Make Super Special Gift Bows from your scrapbook paper

paperbows.jpg

Instructions Below.

These bows are super easy.  By my third bow, I was getting all the pieces onto the brad in under 3 minutes.

Supplies:

2 Co-ordinating Pieces of Scrapbook paper (NOT cardstock)
1 - 1/2" long brad
Craft knife, mat and ruler

Directions are for a two patterned bow.  You can use just one pattened paper if you would rather.  Just cut all the strips from one piece of paper.

1) Cut all your strips you will need:

Color #1

cut 4 - 6" x 1"
cut 4 - 4 3/4" x 3/4"

  Color #2

cut 4 - 5 1/2" x 1"
cut 1 - 3 1/2"x   3/4"

Take the small strip and glue the ends closed, so that it forms a circle.  (see photo on right)

Punch a hole in the center of both ends of all three sets of strips.

About 1/4" or a little more in.  I don't measure, just punch far enough in, that your brads won't rip out.
Now, to build your bow.  Starting at the inside with the smallest 4 strips,  put the hole of one end over the brad with the white facing down, twist the paper around and slip the other end over the brad.
(If it is easier for you to form the petal first and put both ends on together, go ahead)
Add all the petals the same way, going from small, to medium to large last.
Don't worry about lining them up, we can do that later.

Below is a photo of the finished bow.   Close the tabs of the brad, turn over and straighten out the petals.   You can even make the petals wider or narrower by just pulling on them gently.

Last, glue in the circle on top of the brad.

Or, for a little different twist, glue in a handmade paper flower for the center.

This bow was made by printing out the design.   The design was from PCcrafters.  I made a shape the size I needed for each round i.e. a 1x6 inch shape and filled it with digital paper.  I then copy and pasted it to have 4.  Then did the next size.  I then printed out the page actual size, cut them out and made my bow.  You could personalize your paper with names or words, like merry christmas mom, or Happy Birthday Lucine.   Cool huh?  I think I will try stamping some next.
