1. Download png plus file of the pop-up ball template and save.  If you are making the card also download the card cover and slide template.

2. Open a copy of the template on a sized 8.5 x 11 blank page.

Note: The double template is pre-sized to fit inside a small standard card so don’t resize.

There are three ways to make a ball.

1. You can either print the template directly on to the back of the card stock and cut out.

2. or print out a pattern to cut around.  If you are going to do either of these,  print out your pattern (EXACT SIZE) and cut out then move on to step 5.

or 3. Fill the template with computer graphics, the print and cut.  To do this Move on to step 4.

4. To fill the template using a program with layers. The png file is already on two layers. You can import your digital paper and slide it right under the template. Fill all the areas as desired. Note the top half of the ball needs the graphics to stand on the fat edges of the template, but the bottom half of the ball will need the graphics to be standing on the narrow end. If this if for a card center the top section of the ball with the graphic centered where a point is at the top and bottom not a flat edge. The ball will not fit in the card centered any other way. (see diagram).

(Step 6 Explains how to fill the card template)

This is what the template will look like filled with computer graphics.

5. Assembling the ball:

A) Cut out the two ball pieces (do NOT cut out the circle or cut line inside the tabs yet) and the elastic guide.

B) After pieces are cut out put the pieces together flat and line them up, with the ¼“ punch the circle out of both pieces at the same time, keeping the sides together and holding them steady, snip the line from one edge of the tab to the center circle on both sides.

C) Score all the folding lines and fold them all in.

Glue one tabbed edge of one piece to another tabbed edge of the other piece.  Glue right sides (printed sides) together.

Clip them together and let it set 2 or 3 minutes.

D) While the glue is setting on the ball cut a piece of elastic and without stretching it put it in both ends of the guide and tie a triple knot. DO NOT STRETCH IT. If you are using a rubber band find one that fits in the guide. Trim so that your ends are only about an inch long (no need to trim it closer).

E. Slide one end of the elastic through the slit in the tab until it rests in the circle.

If you want to add some strength here staple the ends closed and one staple at the outside edge of the tab.

F. Glue the other 2 end tabs together. Clamp and let set for a few minutes.

Now, put the other end of the elastic in the tab. Add a few staples.  (If the glue wasn't completely dry you might want to clamp for a few more minutes)

G. Now glue all the other ends together and clamp.

When you take the clamps off you may need to stick your finger inside each edge and “fluff” back out.

6. Making the card front and slider.

If you are using the card template fill it in with colors and designs to match your ball.

The card is also done In layers so it will be easy to fill.

You can slide the wrap bar down over your card while you are designing so you will be able to design around it.

Also, fill and decorate the slide bar. You can make it thicker or add extra shapes onto it, but don't change the length, as it is sized to fit around the card with the ball in it.

When design is finished, print it out EXACT size. If you are not filling the template with graphics, you will only need the slide template.

As you can see here the top of the card is left blank because the slider will cover that part of the card.  You can place the slider anywhere on the card, just make sure you decorate around it.

7. Unclamp the ball and decorate as desired.

I always add at least glitter glue.

8. Put your card together and decorate as desired.

Place the ball inside the card center and glue down the bottom. Push down on the ball and close the card.

9. Lay the slider on top of the card.

Fold around the card keeping it lose enough that it will slide off.

Glue together in back.
